[ACTIVIDAD] IV Congreso Interdisciplinario de Investigación en Educación “Interrogando la Reforma: logros y desafíos para la educación chilena”

La AChiE (Asociación Chilena de Investigadores en Educación) llevará a cabo con el apoyo de COES y otras instituciones, entre el 09 al 11 de agosto 2017 el IV Congreso Interdisciplinario de Investigación en Educación bajo el lema “Interrogando la Reforma: logros y desafíos para la educación chilena”. El objetivo de esta actividad es convocar al conjunto de disciplinas que hoy tienen investigación relevante para la educación y generar así espacios de intercambio que contribuyan a mejorar la gestión y calidad de la educación chilena, en un momento histórico para el país, enmarcado por la Reforma Educacional en curso.

Entre los oradores invitados destaca la presencia de Gustavo E. Fischman del Mary Lou Fulton Teachers’ College, Universidad de Arizona (USA), y Cynthia Coburn del School of Education and Social Policy, Northwestern University (USA).

El congreso tendrá lugar en dos sedes: Centro de Extensión PUC y Facultad de Economía y Negocios de la Universidad de Chile, ambos cerca del Metro Universidad Católica en Santiago.

Cynthia E. Coburn

Cynthia E. Coburn is Professor at the School of Education and Social Policy, Northwestern University. Coburn has two related lines of work: 1) the relationship between instructional policy and teachers’ classroom practices in urban schools; and 2) the role of research and other forms of information in policy making about instruction. In 2011, Coburn was awarded the Early Career Award from the American Educational Research Association in recognition of her contributions to the field of educational research in the first decade of her career. In 2015, she was elected Fellow of the American Educational Research Association, honoring «exceptional contributions to and excellence in educational research.» She is currently co-Principal Investigator of the National Center of Research in Policy and Practice (NCRPP), and a member of both the California Collaborative for District Reform and the DREME Network investigating coherence of early mathematics instruction. Coburn has a BA in philosophy from Oberlin College, and a MA in Sociology and a PhD in Education from Stanford University.

Carol Campbell 

Dr. Carol Campbell is Associate Professor of Leadership and Educational Change and Co-Director of the Knowledge Network for Applied Education Research (KNAER) Secretariat at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. She is an appointed Education Advisor to the Premier and the Minister of Education in Ontario and a member of the International Council of Education Advisers to the First Minister and Deputy First Minister in Scotland. Her current research projects include: the state of educators’ professional learning in Canada; Ontario’s Teacher Learning and Leadership Program; and an international study of teacher identity. Carol has held education, academic and policy roles in Canada, USA and UK, including Executive Director of the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE) at Stanford University, Chief Research Officer for the Ontario Ministry of Education, Policy Advisor to the Commissioner for London Schools and a faculty member at the Institute of Education, University of London. Carol’s recent co-authored books are: Teacher Learning and Leadership: Of, By and For Teachers (Routledge), Empowering Educators in Canada (Jossey-Bass) and Empowered Educators: How High-Performing Systems Shape Teaching Quality Around the World (Jossey-Bass). Michael P. O’Malley

Michael P. O’Malley, Ed.D. is Chair and Professor in the Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education, and School Psychology at Texas State University. He served as a Fulbright Scholar in Chile in 2012, where he was hosted by Universidad Alberto Hurtado. His research interests include leadership for educational equity and public pedagogies of social transformation. His recent research projects have involved social justice frameworks in K-12 principal preparation programs nationally in the U.S., and pedagogies of social transformation in Chile via institutions and social movements. He directs Project LEARN-Chile, a transnational research and learning collaboration across doctoral programs in education at Texas State that has partnered with Universidad Alberto Hurtado and Universidad Diego Portales through their joint doctoral program in education. Michael serves as Associate Director of Publications for the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA), a U.S. consortium of 100 research universities with doctoral programs in educational leadership. He is a former secondary school teacher, assistant principal, and principal.

El lema del IV Congreso Interdisciplinario de Investigación en Educación es “Interrogando la Reforma: logros y desafíos para la educación chilena” y su objetivo es convocar al conjunto de disciplinas que hoy tienen investigación relevante para la educación y generar así espacios de intercambio que contribuyan a mejorar la gestión y calidad de la educación chilena, en un momento histórico para el país, enmarcado por la Reforma Educacional en curso.

AChiE (Asociación Chilena de Investigadores en Educación) nace para fomentar el debate intelectual, la investigación e incentivar el compromiso cívico de la comunidad educativa en Chile, a través del debate público sobre una educación inclusiva y de calidad para todos.
